Satore Studio bags IFFR award for upcoming Cosmos Within Us film
Satore Studio has been awarded the HeYou Media VR Award by the International Film Festival Rotterdam, for the studio’s upcoming Cosmos Within Us VR film directed by Tupac Martir.
The VR experience is a work in progress, using volumetric capture and real-time rendering filming techniques to depict a fictional man’s struggle with Alzheimer’s in haunting, vivid detail. There will be test screenings of the project in London, ahead of its planned official launch later this summer.
The jury was impressed with the ambition behind the project, stating that “we cannot not be behind it.” The organisers of the event also praised Satore for tackling a difficult theme in a way which fully utilises the potential of VR as a creative medium.
Tupac Martir said; “Cosmos Within Us is one of the most exciting projects I’ve ever worked on. The potential of VR as a storytelling medium has not yet been fully explored, and it’s great to be pushing the boundaries of this emerging art form.
“Ultimately, our identities are the products of our memories, and it was really interesting for us at Satore to use VR storytelling to explore what happens when our memories begin to disappear. We can’t wait to unveil the project later this year.”
