Hull-based educational psychology startup triples workforce

Hull-based educational psychology (EP) startup Applied Psychologies has more than tripled its workforce in less than two years.

The company moved into its first permanent office at Hesslewood Hall Business Centre in 2017, when it employed a team of seven.

Since then, Applied Psychologies has grown its workforce to 24 staff and opened a satellite base in Liverpool.

The firm now serves close to 100 early years, primary, secondary and SEN schools and alternative provision settings.

Applied Psychologies’ EP services cover assessment and intervention, training, whole-school projects and therapy. Its team includes a specialist autism teacher, speech and communication advisory teacher and occupational therapist.

Director Dr David Lamb, who co-founded the business with Dr Jonny Craig in 2012, said: “Both Jonny and I are very proud of the team we have at Applied Psychologies.

“They work incredibly hard with the schools, teachers and children to build strong relationships and most importantly trust, so much so that most of our growth has come from fantastic feedback and referrals.”

He continued: “The demand for our services continues to be high across the Humber region but now we are seeing similar growth across Lincolnshire and Liverpool as more schools and alternative provision settings find out about our team.

“So, our next step is to expand to more geographical locations across West and South Yorkshire and the North West, spanning the M62.”
