ARMSONS IS PART OF EXPERIENCED PROJECT TEAM BUILDING NEW CLASSROOM BLOCK AT WEST PARK SCHOOL

Derby-based project managers, building surveyors and cost consultants Armsons have been appointed project managers and cost consultants on the scheme to create a new six-classroom block at West Park School in Spondon.

The project team also consists of architects YMD Boon, structural engineers Jackson Purdue Lever, mechanical and electrical engineers CJR Midlands and contractors Davlyn Construction Limited.

West Park School, formerly known as Spondon School, is a mixed secondary school that was converted to academy status back in 2011, following years as a foundation school administered by Derby City Council.

It has recently been named the first-choice secondary school in Derbyshire, according to the Real Schools Guide top 10 for the region. Accolades like this, including a steady Ofsted rating over the years, have made the school a popular choice for parents, hence the need to build the six new classrooms.

Armsons have worked with the school in the past. The company helped make alterations to the school’s Sports Hall and was also part of a scheme to demolish the lower school site after it closed down in July 2002.

Commenting on the project, Sally Walters, Director at Armsons, said:

“It was great to be invited back to West Park School to be part of the multi-discipline design team for the new classroom block.

“I have visited the school for an ‘ideas for careers’ workshop, which we hope will get more young people interested in the surveying profession.

“With this, and with our presence here over the coming months, young people will hopefully have a better idea of what the construction industry is all about.”
