Southwark entrepreneurs’ new platform treats cybersecurity as ‘company-wide’ challenge
Two London tech entrepreneurs are aiming to transform cybersecurity with a new software platform.
ThreatAware, developed with backing from angel investors, allows businesses to monitor their cybersecurity from a single dashboard.
It is the brainchild of Steve Thomson and Jon Abbott, co-founders of Southwark-based IT services business Priority One.
ThreatAware brings cybersecurity tools and company-wide compliance procedures together on a single screen. It is aimed at both IT and cybersecurity professionals, as well as non-technical managers and directors.
When a threat is detected, the platform alerts managers and outlines what action needs to be taken, and by whom. Alerts cannot be overridden and remain visible until fixed.
ThreatAware CEO Jon Abbott, who is also the founder of data analytics specialist Ebiquity plc, said: “Cyber security is not solely the responsibility of the IT team but is a company-wide challenge. As many breaches stem from human error or internal threats, training staff and having the right policies are procedures in place are critical.
“By monitoring tools, people and processes on one dashboard, ThreatAware co-ordinates the roles of people throughout the business, ensuring everyone plays their part.”
He added: “It simplifies compliance with GDPR and other standards, saves time for IT staff and provides peace of mind for directors.”
Jon Abbott commented: “Regulators accept that it may not be possible to prevent every breach, but they expect organisations to comply with standards and have monitoring and safeguards in place.
“ThreatAware brings visibility to cybersecurity and not only minimises the risk of a breach, but also provides evidence that the business has taken all reasonable steps to prevent it.”
Priority One has offices in London and Manchester.
