Carrs Foods in top ten of Sunday Times list for international growth for third consecutive year

Branded Bakery company, Carrs Foods has achieved a Top 10 placing in the Sunday Times International Track 200 for the third successive year. The firm is in 8th place in the 2019 list, with an increase in annual international sales of 158 per cent, as a result of significant growth in the US. The company has further increased total annual turnover from £49m in 2017, to £69m in 2018.

Joint MD, Paul Baker, says: “This is an incredible result for us. We are one of only two companies to achieve a top 10 ranking in the Sunday Times International Track 200 for a third year in succession. We are enjoying considerable success by constantly working to be innovative and deliver products our customers really want. And, it’s fair to say there is still a lot of steam under our bonnet!”

Manchester-based Carrs Foods was founded in 1986. Co-owners Paul Baker and Jeremy Gilboy led a management buyout in 2004. The company sells baked goods under several brands: the St Pierre range of European-style favourites including brioche, croissants, crepes and waffles; Baker Street, which offers best-selling items such as sliced loaves, burger buns and soft rolls, all of which have an extended shelf-life; and the Paul Hollywood Ready-To-Bake range. The company started trading in the US in 2014 and its success in the country is built mainly on its St Pierre range.

“We offer great European flavours with British flair in all our baked goods and the Americans love it,” says Jeremy Gilboy, Joint MD. “We are continuing to grow in the US and are expanding our distribution platform, so we hope to see even more success in future.”

The Sunday Times International Track 200 ranks Britain’s mid-market private companies with the fastest-growing international sales, measured over their latest two years of available accounts. It is compiled by research company Fast Track, and entrants for its annual ranking have to submit figures in November 2018 from their most recently audited accounts.
