Redcar solicitors gain prestigious accreditation

Cygnet Law has had two more of its solicitors receive Children Law Accreditation.

The Redcar-based firm is a leading provider of legal services for children and families. The Children Law Accreditation provides a recognised quality standard for practitioners representing children in children law proceedings and is a means to identify suitably qualified practitioners when representation of a child is required.

Janet Ford is one of those to receive accreditation. She joined Cygnet in 2015 after qualifying as a solicitor in 2012. Janet progressed her career in family law cases often acting in children’s matters, divorce and finance. Janet now specialises in work relating to care proceedings, acting for parents, grandparents, local authorities and now children following her accreditation.

Marie Barker joined Cygnet in May 2018, having qualified in 2007. With a wealth of experience in acting for parents and grandparents in proceedings, Marie has developed a large client base in public law cases. After her successful accreditation, Marie is now able to represent children within court proceedings.

Peter Medd, a director and solicitor at Cygnet Law, said: “Janet and Marie are experienced solicitors, who bring empathy and formidable advocacy to their cases in spades. Receipt of the Children Law Accreditation means that they are now able to provide a holistic family-offer, meeting the needs of those with a range of legal needs.”

Marie Barker, said: “As a passionate advocate for children and families, I am delighted to receive this accreditation. I am wholly committed to delivering the best possible outcomes for all my clients and this accreditation expands the scope and veracity of what I’m able to offer them.”
