Graduates rapid rise at Tech company

Three tech graduates are already celebrating their rapid rise after being promoted within three months of joining gaming giant tombola.

The latest ten graduates joined the Sunderland-based company after qualifying with computing or IT degrees.

Debra Ballantyne, Head of People at tombola, said: “We’ve been working closely with all of the north east universities to identify emerging talent and are delighted with our new graduate intake who are all already making their mark.

“tombola already has a great reputation for developing and producing all of our high quality, online entertainment in-house, so it’s completely natural that we develop our people in the same way. The prospect of joining a company that is growing so rapidly, constantly innovating and creating opportunities is exciting for all our graduates.

“We are always looking to spot new talent and in the case of our recent intake [of graduates] have already recognised this with three promotions in just three months.”

Daniel Mudd, 21, from Sunderland, joined tombola after qualifying from Northumbria University with a computer science degree. The newly promoted platform developer said: “I was really surprised to get promoted so quickly but it was great to see all the hard work pay off! It’s obvious tombola is keen to see people succeed.

“I really love how approachable everyone is to sitting down and chatting about stuff. There’s always someone available to seek advice or just bounce ideas off of.”

Games developer Segiu Borlovan, 30, from Darlington, graduated from the Open University with a degree in computer science. He added, “I was really impressed with the projects I was assigned from early on. It was an unbelievable feeling to see something you worked on going live after only a couple of months on the job.

“I thought it would probably take a couple of years to be considered for a promotion so it’s a great feeling knowing all the work I put in, didn’t go unnoticed.”

Cambridge graduate Peter Lotts, 21, from Durham, joined tombola as a platform developer after qualifying from Downing College with a computer science degree. He said; “I had always hoped to progress quickly out of university, but making the jump from graduate to mid-level in 3 months was a bit of a surprise.

“I’ve already been able discuss code architecture and how best to solve problems with our senior developers; this is a really valuable opportunity to see how they approach problems. The work environment in tombola’s new HQ is also great, and the array of food and drinks options throughout the day always helps to keep people happy!”

“tombola offers a comprehensive employment package for all employees that includes flexible working, private healthcare, an on-site gym and complimentary meals in the company’s HQ, which are very popular,” added Debra.
