New Thirsk Racecourse development is ‘pitch perfect’

A new £1.8 million suite for racehorse owners and trainers, which also doubles as a first-class wedding, conference and corporate venue at Thirsk Racecourse, has hosted a perfectly pitched showcasing event. The celebratory evening at the Chestnut Room saw local dignitaries, business leaders and community members attending an evening of music performed by talented boys from Aysgarth School in Bedale. The boys and their music teacher, Matthew Atherton, entertained guests with a selection of performances whilst canapés and drinks were served by the Racecourse’s award-winning catering partner, CGC Events. James Sanderson, Manager and Clerk of the Course at Thirsk Racecourse, said: “The Chestnut Room has been described as one of the best facilities of its kind in the UK, by ITV Racing presenter Ed Chamberlin, and we are keen to raise awareness of everything we have to offer by giving people the chance to experience our facilities first-hand. “We were thrilled to be able to showcase our latest investment at the Racecourse to the region’s business community. The boys from the Aysgarth School Choir attended and sang for our entertainment. They were absolutely brilliant! “Since launching the new building back in September with a black-tie dinner attended by many of the North’s horse racing professionals, we have hosted weddings, conferences, networking events, parties and much more, and we have had excellent feedback. We have several bookings throughout the next few months in the run up to start of the flat racing season in April and we envisage that the Chestnut Room will become even more popular in the summer season, when guests can really enjoy the impressive rooftop spectator terrace outside.” Thirsk businessman Bill Calvert said: “It was an absolute delight to sample the first-class setting and service at the new Chestnut Room. It’s fantastic to see Thirsk Racecourse invest in the non-racing side of things too. This facility really is one of the best venues in the North, and that will bring even more people to our delightful market town.”
