Southampton Crafter Raises Money for Juvenile Diabetes Research

Southampton-based craft lover Katie Yeates has successfully raised hundreds of pounds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

Katie, who crafts with Stampin’ Up! UK, held a fundraising craft day at Bitterne Parish Church Hall on Saturday February 9th. She and her friends raised £100 completing various crafting projects using the company’s range of stamps, ink, paper and other crafting supplies.

As a member of the Trefoil Guild, the branch of Girlguiding for men and women aged 18+, Katie has taken a pledge to help others and charitable giving is an important part of her life. She has long been a supporter of JDRF and holds similar charity craft events twice a year which have raised a total of £500 for the cause to date.

JDRF is the world’s leading charitable funder of type 1 diabetes research. Its mission is to find a cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications.

Katie comments: “Paper crafting is a passion of mine and I have a lot of friends who are fans of Stampin’ Up!, so the decision to fundraise by holding craft events made perfect sense.

“I was first inspired to raise money for JDRF by one of my fellow crafting enthusiasts, whose diabetic grandson was supported by the organisation. We know they do incredibly important work and are so proud to support them, so we definitely plan to continue with our fundraising events.”
