St Mary’s Inn near the town of Morpeth in Northumberland, is about warmth and generosity whether a guest comes to eat, drink or stay. A space that can be described as boasting friendly hospitality, flavoursome food and spacious bedrooms with luxe bathrooms.

Large yet inviting, St Mary’s, the focal point of a developing community, offers fine fare, local ales, cosy corners and real fires. This is a relaxed North East destination pub with a passion to make each guest feel at home.

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner or even mid-morning coffee with the papers. With its inglenook fireplace and welcoming atmosphere, St Mary’s Inn is also the ideal place to relax in comfort and enjoy a hearty, rustic take on afternoon tea. When the sun shines simply take tea outside within the charming courtyard.

With the foodie in mind, the freshly made afternoon teas at St Mary’s Inn include: wholemeal doorstop sandwiches and rolls generously filled with ham, smoked salmon, etc, scones with jam and Cornish clotted cream as well as a selection of homemade desserts such as: rich chocolate brownies and delicious cake topped with cream. All of which are served with your choice of tipple, whether it be, pot of tea, pint of local ale or a chilled glass of fizz.

The pub’s head chef Chris Cheek, has worked in fine-dining restaurants including the Michelin starred Northcote Manor in Lancashire as well as the two-AA-rosette, sister property to the pub, Jesmond Dene House and he is delighted to offer this new addition of a rustic afternoon tea to the menu.

Afternoon tea at St Mary’s Inn is served, Monday – Saturday from 12pm – 4pm.

£15 per person, guests to book in advance. Vouchers available for purchase on request.
Boasting five AA stars, following an anonymous inspection, the independently owned St Mary’s Inn is a place worth driving out to.
