Darlington experts 'have tools, will travel' as business booms across Scotland

Darlington restoration and maintenance experts- Stone Technical Services (STS)- have been working extensively across Scotland as their business increases across the region.

The company secured a contract with The Highland Council to carry out a full refurbishment of their head offices in Inverness, which included chimney repairs and weather-proofing works. STS worked overnight and at weekends in order to limit disruption and enable the site to be in continuous use throughout the works. A traffic management system was also set up to ease congestion.

STS has also returned to the Forth Road Bridge- where they have carried out a range of maintenance works over the years- to install vital lifeline systems which allow maintenance teams to work on the exposed bridge infrastructure.

And a team from STS spent a week working at Dunlossit Castle on the Isle of Islay installing lightning protection to the fabric and installing essential surge protection units to the electrical systems.

STS this year celebrates its 20th anniversary. Darlington brothers, Dave and Grahame Stone, established Stone Technical Services in 1998 and is based on Kellaw Road in Darlington.

The company has also recently completed projects with Handpicked Hotels, Nostell Priory, Jarrow Town Hall, Sunderland Empire, County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service, St Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Hall.

MD of STS, Dave Stone, said “We have the tools and will travel anywhere- many companies these days don’t have the means too but, because we’re constantly investing in our team, we’re able to accommodate most jobs anywhere in the country.

“Business is booming across Scotland- in many very remote locations but this means we get to work at some fascinating sites.”
