Yorkshire Luxury Brand Maxwell-Scott Launches Mental Health Initiative
As part of an ongoing initiative to be positive about mental health, luxury leather brand Maxwell-Scott has now signed the MINDFUL EMPLOYER charter - a scheme which provides employers access to information and local support for staff experiencing stress, anxiety, depression or other mental health conditions.
By signing the MINDFUL EMPLOYER charter, Maxwell-Scott is committed to helping their staff to discuss their mental health in an open and non-judgemental environment. This is crucial to the company as 1 in 4 people in the UK experience a mental health condition at some point, with 1 in 3 of those of working age. As a supportive workplace then, the company is committed to offering adjustments when required.
To help staff who experience stress, anxiety, depression or other mental health conditions access information easily, Maxwell-Scott has appointed their Content Executive, Holly Smith, as the mental health advocate for the company. Holly is particularly pleased about taking on this proactive role to assist her colleagues in having discussions about their own mental health:
“In this role, I will be available to all to provide information and support. With my experience of psychology, mindfulness and meditation to help with my own anxiety, I feel very passionate about having open lines of communication with colleagues to express any issues that they might be having with their mental health.“
Maxwell-Scott founder and CEO, William Scott Forshaw is equally proud to acknowledge his focus on creating an encouraging environment:
“From the very beginning I have wanted to create a work environment that bolsters those within it. It is most important to me that my employees are happy and as such, it feels appropriate to sign this charter in order to formalise this view. I hope that with this we can all grow together as a team, putting these principles into practice.“
Maxwell-Scott also offers other benefits designed to help people cope with stress and stay healthy, including flexible working patterns, guided meditation and regular team building sessions. With this, Maxwell-Scott is focused on cultivating a supportive environment.
