Rochdale opticians' joins search for Spectacle Wearer of the Year
A LOCAL opticians’ has started the search in Rochdale for the UK’s proudest glasses wearers – with a £10,000 cash prize up for grabs.
Specsavers on Yorkshire Street will be hosting an in-store photoshoot on Saturday 18 May, to encourage Rochdale’s spectacle wearers to enter the competition.
All glasses wearers in Rochdale aged 16 and over are eligible to win the competition. Entrants just need to share a selfie and tell Specsavers what their glasses mean to them to be in with chance of winning the prestigious accolade.
For every entry accepted, Specsavers will donate £1 to children’s anti-bullying charity Kidscape. Spectacle Wearer of the Year has raised more than half a million pounds for Kidscape over the past ten years.
The money raised helps support the charity in providing practical support to children and families affected by bullying.
Sarah Culshaw, store director at Specsavers Rochdale, says: ‘We’re encouraging Rochdale’s glasses wearers to come into store and attend our free photoshoot session.
‘It’s fantastic to be able to participate in such a prestigious competition for a great cause, and we really hope a fellow Rochdalian goes on to win the grand prize.’
Seven finalists, plus a social media favourite voted for by the public, will attend a celebrity-packed awards ceremony in London, with one overall winner scooping the top award and cash prize.
