University students get insight into five star housebuilder
Students from the University of Brighton swapped the classroom for a live building site recently with a visit to five star housebuilder Barratt Homes.
Around 40 students visited Northwalls Grange in Taunton as part of a Construction Live course run by Bridgwater and Taunton College to offer university students real construction team building experiences and activities.
Barratt Homes managing director Russell Glimstead said he was pleased that the next generation of housebuilders had been to see one of its five star developments.
“It’s always important to showcase the wide range of jobs available within the housebuilding sector and provide students with an insight into the workings of a live building site,” said Russell. “Those visiting us are studying disciplines ranging from architectural technology to project management and construction management so we hope they found the visit useful.”
Shawn Clements, Construction Live delivery manager said that site visits are an extremely valuable part of the programme offered. “Many thanks to Barratt Homes and the team at Northwalls Grange for hosting the site visit. Trips like this provide the opportunity for students to see how the theory they have learnt is applied and also deliver practical wisdom from those already working on site.”
