Awards Shine a Light on Greater Manchester’s True Community Heroes

Following the announcement of the newly formed £5m UKFast Community and Education Trust, comes the launch of the 2019 UKFast Community and Education Awards, celebrating Greater Manchester’s unsung community heroes.

The UKFast Community and Education Awards champion those who, often in the face of adversity, go above and beyond within their community or in education to positively impact those around them.

Now in their second year, the awards are sponsored and hosted by Manchester technology firm UKFast and highlight outstanding achievement and dedication across a wide variety of categories.

Categories include Inspirational Teacher of the Year, Young Fundraiser of the Year, Young Sporting Hero of the Year, Community Project of the Year, Young Volunteer Award and Young Carer of the Year. View the full list of categories.

UKFast MD Gail Jones said: “It’s incredibly inspiring to celebrate these individuals, groups and organisations who contribute so much to others. The tireless work they put in, often in difficult circumstances, deserves serious recognition. That’s what the UKFast Community and Education Awards are all about.

“In our first year we were able to recognise and honour some amazing people, and this year we’ve widened the categories and have had a huge amount of interest in the awards, which is testament to the amount of great work there is being done in the community and within education.

“We’re incredibly excited to receive entries and learn more about the true heroes that are making our communities better places to live and work in. If people know of an outstanding individual or project I’d urge them to nominate them to say ‘thank you.’ “

UKFast works with more than 60,000 young people throughout 60 primary schools and secondary schools across Greater Manchester.

UKFast Director of CSR Russell Feingold added: “In UKFast’s work within education and with a significant number of community projects, we encounter outstanding people every day who seek no recognition for going the extra mile. We realised that there are so many of these people working in our local communities and that we needed to shine a light on them.”
