Brose staff take part in their own Spring litter-pick

One of the West Midlands’ leading automotive suppliers has added its backing to Earth Day by taking part in a major litter-pick.

Over 95 staff from Brose swapped their daily roles managing the requirements of car manufacturers for a chance to clean-up areas around its sites on Colliery Lane in Exhall and Courtaulds Way in Coventry.

Employees, including the senior management team, cleared the car parks and the roads leading into both factories, whilst one group made their way to do a sweep of Bedworth Park.

Over 50 bags of litter were amassed during the 1-hour session, including a giant plastic toy car that had been discarded.

Steve Wilkins, Managing Director of Brose Limited, commented: “We are very proud of our Coventry roots, having been based in and around the City for more than 30 years.

“We wanted to give something back so we galvanised the team to spend one hour of their time removing all the litter from our facilities, nearby roads and, importantly, tidying up a great open space for local people.”

He continued: “This will become an annual event and is part of our new approach to corporate social responsibility that will see us use our skills, expertise and resources more effectively to make a difference to the communities we operate in.

“The litter-pick was definitely well received, with a number of residents approaching our employees and thanking them for their efforts.”

Brose, which supplies seat structures and window regulators to many of the world’s leading car manufacturers, already sponsors the Coventry Transport Museum’s Learning Officer as part of its commitment to developing the next generation of engineers.

This has supported thousands of young people from across the West Midlands to access Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) activities so they can develop skills they will be able to use when entering into the world of engineering and manufacturing.
