Pierce staff prepare for three peak challenge to raise vital funds for hospice
Staff and friends from Blackburn based chartered accountancy firm Pierce are preparing to take on the national three peaks, which they will be completing as part of their corporate challenge to raise funds for East Lancashire Hospice.
The team of 13 are currently in training to climb Wales’ Snowdon, Scafell Pike in Cumbria and Scotland’s Ben Nevis within 24 hours on Saturday June 1.
Pierce staff Philip Johnson, Lisa Kennery, John Wilkin, Fred Green, Charles Hopkinson, Tom Brassey and Lewis Withnell, will be joined by friends of the firm Susan Wilkin, Emma D`Ippolito, Emma Hutchings, Chris Deeson, David Hilton and Scott Bamber.
To celebrate its 35th anniversary this year, East Lancashire Hospice is hoping to get 35 companies from the local area on board with the corporate challenge to help raise as much money as possible.
For the challenge, which runs from June to September, Pierce will host events including a race night, football tournament, murder mystery evening and a ladies evening.
Lisa Kennery, director at Pierce, said: “We chose to get involved as it is a special year for the hospice and it’s a place close to many hearts at Pierce. Over the years, the hospice has supported many family and friends of our staff members and we decided it was time to give something back.
“Our staff are really getting into the challenge and they are determined to make as much money as possible for such a good cause. We’ve got lots of exciting and varied events coming up, and there is something for everyone to enjoy.”
Jennifer Quinn, from East Lancashire Hospice, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have Pierce on board this year for our Corporate Challenge. Corporate support is very important to the hospice as each year we need to raise £3.7 million to continue to care for our patients and their families. Having the support of Pierce, a really well known and long-established Blackburn company, is fantastic for us.
“With their exciting plans and very committed team, Pierce could be the ones to watch for this year’s Corporate Challenge!”
