Local housebuilder teams up with Sheffield Mind to create eco-therapy garden
Leading local housebuilder, Barratt Homes Yorkshire West, has donated £2,500 to local charity Sheffield Mind, to be the sole sponsor of the charity’s new therapy space
The donation will fund the renovation of existing yard space at Sheffield Mind’s premises, which will create the Barratt Homes’ Eco Therapy Garden. The area will provide a safe and peaceful space for service users and local people who need time to reflect and take time out.
Ian Ruthven, Managing Director of Barratt Homes Yorkshire West commented: “We are so pleased to be supporting Sheffield Mind with the creation of this space and appreciate the need to provide areas – particularly in urban environments - in which people can take some time out and enjoy quiet relaxation.
The work of the charity is absolutely vital to the local community and, with it revealed there are more suicides in construction workers than any other profession, this is a cause close to our hearts.“
Margaret Lewis, CEO from Sheffield Mind, said: “We’re are so grateful to Barratt Homes for working with us on this garden area. Mental health is fundamental to living a healthy and fulfilling life and we are positive that this space will give our staff and service users somewhere safe and secure in which to take valuable time out from the busy environment they live and work in. We can’t wait to see the finished result!”
Sheffield Mind is an independent charity that is part of over 170 local Mind associations across England and Wales that provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem.
