Gala Tent Sponsor Dragon Den's Peter Jones Charity Golf Day
Yorkshire based marquee and gazebo supplier and manufacturer Gala Tent was proud to sponsor the Peter Jones Foundation Enterprise Charity Golf Tournament recently.
Amongst the one hundred plus attendees were footballing legend Alan Shearer CBE, record breaking British swimmer, Mark Foster, TV presenters Jenni Falconer and Zoe Hardman, former Wasps rugby player Paul Doran Jones, as well as Reggae Reggae Sauce entrepreneur Levi Roots, all of whom helped to raise over £50,000 for the enterprise education initiatives and the Forgotten Children programmes. Over the years, the success of the fundraising events has helped the Foundation raise over £2.2million
Gala Tent’s print and branding division Gala Graphics, based in the Dearne Valley, created the brochures, pop up banners, and promotional flags for the event, which was held at the exclusive Bearwood Lakes Golf Club, located in Sindlesham, Berkshire.
The event included an 18-hole golf tournament, Beat-the-Pro and Nearest-to-the-Pin competition, followed by champagne reception and auction of several ‘money can’t buy’ experiences to raise funds for the charity.
Jason Mace, Managing Director of Gala Tent, said, “It was a great day which I really enjoyed. We didn’t win the Golf tournament, but it was a real privilege again to sponsor this event which raises so much money for a great course. I am passionate about helping the next generation of entrepreneurs and working with the Peter Jones Foundation as I have find giving back really rewarding. An active philanthropist, Mace also supports Help for Heroes and has provided cover for some of the world’s most horrific natural disasters.
Chris Winterbourne, Managing Director of event hiring firm Your Event Covered, who also attended played on Gala Tent’s Golf team, said, “It was a fantastic day of events which I really enjoyed, even though I’m not an avid golfer I still had a great time and it was nice to offer support to an event that does so much good for young people.”
Gala Tent has been involved with the Peter Jones Foundation since 2011 when the National Enterprise Academy was established at Sheffield College, offering 16-18 year olds the opportunity to undertake a one-year BTEC Diploma in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, as part of the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy.
Over the past eight years, Gala Tent has set challenges for students to create a new marquee and gazebo product range, and Jason Mace gave them the benefit of mentoring and coaching to encourage their entrepreneurial skills.
Peter Jones said “I would like to send my personal thanks to Jason Mace and Gala Tent for their support. The funds we raise help us to deliver pioneering enterprise activities, which have enabled us to work with over ten thousand children from six hundred schools to date. Through our Forgotten Children programme we also support causes working with some of the most disadvantaged children in the UK. Some of the recent good causes we have been able to support include Alexander Devine, which provides a dedicated children’s hospice service for all children with life limiting and life-threatening illnesses in Berkshire and beyond and Daisy’s Dreams, which offers support to children and their families through bereavement.”
