Ilkley architects complete successful management buyout

Ilkley-based architects Halliday Clark has completed a management buyout from founders Adam Clark and David Halliday.

The 15-strong practice is now managed by three directors, Nick Pearce, Emily Blowers and Richard Walsh, who have been with the practice for a combined 36 years.

David and Adam will still be heavily involved in the day to day activities of the business and will not be leaving the company for a minimum period of three years.

Halliday Clark was set up by Adam and David in 1993 in Bradford, moving to its newly designed and purpose-built offices in Ilkley in 2018.

Director Nick Pearce said the MBO had been completed at the right time for the business, allowing Adam and David a seamless and planned transition out of the practice.

He said: “The MBO is a natural evolution of the business to ensure its future success and growth, and the team are delighted and proud to be taking the practice forward.

“The new management board of directors have all been at Halliday Clark for a number of years and already committed to the business.

“The MBO will enable us to forward plan, as well as offer opportunities for other team members to step up and enjoy career development as the company moves forward.”

Both directors will continue to work within the practice which has a national portfolio of clients in both the private and B2B sectors, including residential, education and commercial.

Adam added: “It is very much business as usual for us, the team and all our clients. Halliday Clark has been a labour of love over the past 26 years but starting and running your own business can be all-consuming and both David and I know the business is now in the very best hands.

“We plan to make sure Halliday Clark goes from strength to strength over the next few years and then enjoy watching the practice thrive.”
