Prestigious award win for Yorkshire employment law firm

Leeds-based ESP Law has clinched a significant industry accolade highlighting how it helps organisations tackle increased employee relations (ER) workloads and spiralling costs from employment tribunals.

The forward-thinking team, which is part of employment law and HR consultancy business ESPHR and only established four years ago, took home the Legal Week Innovation Award 2019 in the ‘Future of Legal Services Innovation – Alternative Business Structure’ category.

A driving force behind the triumph was the organisation’s successful subscription-based pricing model, which provides unlimited personal legal advisory support to customers and key online resources, to dynamically upskill HR teams through challenging employment law issues.

That work – to ‘future-proof’ HR customers against the rising tide of employment law cases – included hosting an educational live mock trial, developing real-time ER case management software, running a coaching and mentoring scheme, and bringing in live webinars and e-learning training.

Solicitors Regulation Authority-recognised ESP Law – whose legal team are based in and around Yorkshire – collected the Legal Week award at a special awards ceremony, in London, on 24th May.

Peter Byrne, founder of ESPHR, said: “We are thrilled that our very different law firm business structure and innovative service model has been recognised within the sector. This award helps to showcase how we’re continually trying to think ahead to meet the ever-evolving needs of our HR customers in the mid-sized, and larger, enterprise sectors.

“We are driven to provide in-house HR teams with an integrated, quality advisory service that brings together the very best commercial ER advice through practical and tailored online resources, and market-leading case management software. “We’re so pleased to bring this award back to our team in Yorkshire, because it’s testament to their hard work that we’ve been recognised on such a high-profile level.”

First established in 2003, ESPHR – which has headquarters in Surrey – specialises in employee relations and has clients which include nationally-recognised firms such as Ladbrokes Coral Group plc, Randstad and Greene King.
