Hop on the bus with Arriva the week of The Hoppings

The Hoppings has joined forces with multi-national public transport provider, Arriva to encourage visitors onto public transport during the week of the fair, as part of a drive to employ a better transport management scheme to the event which attracts thousands of people each year.

The partnership follows a review of the transport and traffic management strategy for the annual Hoppings fairground event. Visitors going by bus can expect all regular and express Arriva services to stop at The Hoppings entrance at Forsyth Road, close to the main entrance to The Hoppings, making it easier than ever to get to this massive funfair via public transport.

David Wilson, Vice Chairman of The Freemen of Newcastle Upon Tyne, which organises the annual funfair said: “It’s great to be partnering with Arriva to build stronger transport links for 2019. We are keen to provide the best combination of travel options for visitors to The Hoppings.”

Nick Knox, Regional Managing Director of Arriva said: “We’re delighted to be working with The Hoppings in this way and hope that people will choose to travel with us throughout the week of the fair.

“Over 50 buses per hour pass The Hoppings and each will have Hoppings announcements for any first-time visitors to the fair. Information and discount vouchers are also available at the Arriva Haymarket bus station Newcastle city centre.

“We hope this is a partnership that will continue for many years. “ There is still parking available for those wishing to travel to The Hoppings by car.
