Shipping containers firm set for further business with new North East site
Local shipping containers firm Parsons Containers Group has opened a new 2.2-acre site in the region representing a major step change for the growing business.
Situated under the Tees flyover, the strategically important location now hosts both a container sales office and an additional site for Parsons’ successful U Hold The Key self-storage business, plus the inclusion of container handling facilities.
The company now has nine sites in the North East and the latest has the potential to develop into one of the biggest that is run by the group.
Parsons Group’s CEO, Ean Parsons, said: “This is a very important moment for the Parsons Containers Group. On its own, the new Teesside site is a significant addition to our portfolio, but it also represents much more in the context of our wider ambitions.
“Having the ability to move and store containers so close to the A19, with such good access to the UK road network, opens up a lot of opportunities.
“Similarly, our improved U Hold The Key stores capacity there will help meet the increasing demand for self-storage.
“We’ve chosen this site carefully, knowing that we can develop it into one of the largest in the group, an important consideration as Parsons continues to invest for growth.”
The Parsons Containers Group was founded by entrepreneur Ean Parsons in 2000 and is now one of the UK’s largest multi-discipline shipping container businesses.
All of the group’s divisions have experienced growth in recent years and between them, its individual companies operate across multiple sites in the region, plus one in Grantham, Lincolnshire.
In 2018, the Parsons Containers Group secured investment of £825k to support the expansion of its operations across the UK.
The funding was secured through Maven Capital Partners, one of the UK’s most active private equity houses, through the Finance Durham Fund and the North East Development Capital Fund, which injected £500k and £325k of capital into the business respectively.
Opening the new Teesside site is the latest step towards achieving the objectives outlined in the strategy that secured the Maven investment.
