Law firm wins Business Mentor of the Year Award and continues to support local apprenticeship programme

Law firm Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) has announced its continued support of Envision’s Community Apprentice Programme which is due to commence in September 2019. WBD’s IT Trainer, Nicola Richards, was also recently named ‘Business Mentor of the Year’ by Envision.

The apprenticeship programme is an inter-school competition aimed at 14-15 year old students where they compete in teams to raise money and awareness for a charity. It’s designed to equip school children with essential life skills, build confidence and allow them to contribute to local communities.

WBD has participated in two cohorts working closely with Bradley Stoke School, one at the end of last year and more recently in April this year where the students organised a ‘Carnival’ themed fundraiser in our Bristol office which helped raised around £400 for Charity Aidbox.

Following on from this year’s fundraiser the students participated in a ‘pitching challenge’ which was held at Bristol Aerospace where they competed with other local schools. WBD’s IT Trainer, Nicola Richards, was also awarded ‘Business Mentor of the Year’.

Samantha Lee, Head of Recruitment at WBD, commented: “We are delighted to continue supporting Envision’s Community Apprentice Programme and it is great to see Nicola receive such an incredible award as this highlights the huge amount of support and encouragement she provided to the students throughout the whole process.”

Nicola Richards, at WBD added: “Winning this award means a lot to me in so many ways and I am proud to have been a part of something so worthwhile. Being a positive role model and key mentor during the programme and to have received this recognition is not only credit to me but to all that were involved. Through providing encouragement and support we allowed the students to have confidence in sharing their ideas through to implementing them which has been really rewarding for all of us. “
