Eddisons triathlon team presents Leeds Mind charity with over £5,000

Colleagues from Eddisons’ building and project consultancy team have presented a cheque for £5,266 to the mental health charity Leeds Mind this week, after raising sponsorship by competing in last month’s Harrogate Triathlon.

The 13-strong team, who completed the event’s 420m swim, 24km cycle and 4.6km run in around two hours, are based across Eddisons’ Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle offices. After several months of fundraising, the colleagues exceeded their £4,000 target for the charity by more than £1,200.

Leeds Mind Fundraising Officer Gemma Green said: “It’s fantastic when a high profile organisation such as Eddisons chooses to support a mental health charity. Raising awareness and encouraging people to talk about their mental health, especially in the workplace, is something we are passionate about.

“The money raised by the Eddisons team’s triathlon efforts will help us continue to deliver the essential services we provide here in Leeds to people with mental health difficulties. These include counselling, peer support, employment support, creative arts, suicide bereavement services and mental health training.”

Joseph Fitzsimmons, an associate director at Eddisons who was inspired to raise money for Leeds Mind following the recent loss of his sister, said: “We’re really proud to have raised more than £5,000 for such an important charity. Mental health is something that touches almost everyone’s lives at some point and Leeds Mind does a tremendous job in helping to remove the stigma surrounding it and in reaching out to people who are struggling.”
