Nim’s Fruit Crisps teams up with Save the Children for ‘healthy’ 100th birthday celebrations

The UK’s only manufacturer of air-dried fruit and vegetable crisps has joined forces with Save the Children in celebration of its centenary year and to fund work that helps children have a better future.

Nim’s Fruit Crisps will be donating 5p from every pack of its apple crisps to the charity’s vital work, with these special packs sold in a series of promotional periods throughout the year.

In order to further boost the fundraising drive, the healthy snack specialist will also mark the charity’s 100th birthday by launching its watermelon variety in red packaging and these will be sold across hundreds of Tesco stores and independent retailers.

The packs will also be subject to the 5p donation and have been introduced following extensive customer research and a series of taste testing sessions.

Nimisha Raja, Founder of Nim’s Fruit Crisps, commented: “The reason we launched the business was to provide children with a great tasting alternative to mainstream crisps, so making young people healthier and able to enjoy the best possible life has always been a priority.

“We are continually looking to forge partnerships with organisations that have a similar ethos and we are delighted that Save the Children have agreed to put their name on our packs, recognising the fact we are giving children ‘one of their five a day’.”

She went on to add: “Every packet of apple and water melon crisps sold over the next four weeks will see 5p donated and we are currently designing two further four-week promotions.”

Nim’s fruit and vegetable crisps are fat, gluten and dairy free, as well as being Vegan, Kosher and Halal certified.

The ten different varieties, including pineapple and kiwi, apple and beetroot and parsnip, are all manufactured at its bespoke ‘A Grade BRC-accredited’ facility in Sittingbourne where, after recent investment in new lines, it is capable of producing over 15 million packs of crisps a year.

This year it has also released its first-ever edible teas (a ‘drink and snack in one’), secured NHS approval to supply hospitals and recently entered into a partnership with Garden County Vending to trial its products in a number of its sites across the UK.

Nim’s Fruit Crisps are available to buy in Tesco and other independent retailers.
