Pupils get the chance to be a superhero
YOUNGSTERS from Newcastle primary schools can win shoes for their entire class by designing a shoe for a superhero. They can use their imagination to add features to enhance their wearer’s special powers. The shoes could help the superhero run at the speed of light, jump 60 feet in the air or take giant strides in their fight against the villains. Entrants should draw their shoes and label any special features to help family footwear retailer Charles Clinkard decide on a winner. Then – with a swish of its cape – the firm will provide new shoes for the winner and everyone in their class. Managing director, Charles Clinkard, said: “We have run this competition for several years and the creative ideas the children come up with never cease to amaze us. “The winner will get the chance to be an actual superhero for a day when they tell their friends they have won the prize. Looking through the entries is one of our favourite activities.” The winners will then be invited along to Charles Clinkard’s store at Newcastle along with their classmates, to pick out their new shoes. Since starting in the North East more than 90 years ago, the company has gone from strength to strength and is now a nationwide success.
