Digital Enterprise celebrates Leeds’ SME tech heroes

Some of the most technologically savvy businesses from across the Leeds City Region were celebrated at the Digital Enterprise Top 100 event this week.

The showcase event was the culmination of last month’s Digital Enterprise Top 100 campaign, which recognised the 100 SMEs across the city region identified by Government-backed Digital Enterprise as having invested in and boosted their digital influence and competitiveness.

A trio of Leeds City Region businesses were selected to receive Special Recognition awards for their investment in and outstanding use of technology. The three firms were Fleetondemand, which provides cutting-edge software to some of the world’s largest fleet operators; clinically-led digital start-up Doc Abode, which supports NHS healthcare providers to deliver more responsive, cost-effective care; and electrical testing and inspection specialist National Safety Inspections.

Head of Digital Enterprise, Muz Mumtaz, said: “The Digital Enterprise Top 100 has identified some remarkable businesses and it has been a real pleasure to celebrate their success. Our report includes businesses from a wide array of industries and their investment in new technology has had a really positive impact on helping them to grow, creating jobs and prosperity for the Leeds City Region.”

He added: “Since it was established, Digital Enterprise has assisted well over a thousand businesses with their digital ambitions by providing funding for digital projects or access to knowledge, expertise and advice. We are looking forward to helping even more businesses embrace digital when our new programme opens in September.”

Award winner Fleetondemand’s digital marketing manager Alex Bond said: “Our Special Recognition award highlights the transformative power of new technology, and Fleetondemand’s outstanding growth record makes me very proud to be part of the team.

“The Digital Enterprise programme helped us upgrade our digital connectivity. We received funding for a new server, enabling us to stay connected to clients around the world with high-speed broadband and provide on-demand automotive and mobility services.”

He added: “We’d definitely recommend the Digital Enterprise programme to any other businesses who are looking to improve their digital performance by investing in technologies and expanding their knowledge. “
