Heathcotes introduce new supported living properties

Care provider, Heathcotes Group, has increased its capacity to provide a full care pathway for service users with the development of independent supported living properties in Grimsby.

Four spacious apartments have been constructed to accommodate individuals who no longer require full-time residential care in one of Heathcotes’ specialist services for adults with learning disabilities, mental health needs and associated challenging behaviours. The properties provide a self-contained environment that benefits from the availability of support 24/7. The provision is focused on helping service users to build their daily living skills and further their independence.

Heathcotes’ Head of Commissioning, Natalia Lysiuk, said:

“Heathcotes support some of the most complex individuals in a residential setting and two years ago we made a decision to respond to a changing market with the long-term development of more self-contained provision to complement our established model of full-time residential care. The apartments at Grimsby are the latest example of this approach, facilitating the next stage of the journey for service users who have progressed through their care pathway.

“Heathcotes have introduced independent supported living in various regions, focused on our core objective to help individuals to achieve greater independence, and we are seeing some hugely positive outcomes which we are able to evidence to our external stakeholders such as families, commissioners and care managers. When Heathcotes assess admissions to our full-time residential care services, an eventual move to our independent supported livings is often discussed as a potential long-term outcome. Alternatively, our independent supported living is available for individuals who require a single-person service due to their complexity and inability to live with others. We are currently developing another eight properties in Leeds which will be available later this year.”

With a head office in Chesterfield, Heathcotes Group has over 62 full-time residential care services nationwide and has been a trusted partner to over 50 local authorities and Clinical Commissioning Groups since 2004. The company provides a range of specialist services supporting individuals with Asperger’s Syndrome, autism, Down Syndrome, learning disabilities, Personality Disorder, physical disabilities, Prader-Willi Syndrome, sensory impairments, speech difficulties and severe epilepsy.
