Wynyard Park race day is galloping success
Twenty-five thousand pounds has been raised for two of the region’s best loved charities at an event held by luxury self-build housing developer, Wynyard Park.
The annual Royal Ascot Race Day, which was held in partnership with Rockliffe Hall, took place at the end of June with all proceeds going to support the MFC Foundation and Hartlepool’s Alice House Hospice.
The event raised a whopping £25,270 which will go to support each charity in its work to support communities throughout the region.
The race day also paid tribute to the father of Wynyard Park CEO Chris Musgrave, Joe Musgrave, who sadly passed away in 2016. Joe was an avid racing fan and a proud supporter of charities in the North East.
Speaking about the event was Chris Musgrave, CEO at Wynyard Park.
He said: “This is now our 3rd race day and every year I’m proud to say they get better and better. This year’s race day was spread over two days on the 20th and 21st of June and both days were full of excitement and enthusiasm.
“It was clear to see from the numerous celebrations throughout that we had a few winners in the room, but the main focus was to raise vital funds for two exceptional local organisations.
“I think both charities were overwhelmed by the generosity of those who attended the event and on behalf of Wynyard Park I would like to thank everyone that dug deep to support such fantastic causes.”
As well as all of the action from Ascot Racecourse, attendees also had the opportunity to bid for some incredible sports memorabilia in a silent auction. These included gloves signed by former England goalkeepers Peter Shilton and Gordon Banks, two pairs of boxing gloves signed by former heavyweight champions Mike Tyson and Tyson Fury and football shirts signed by Christiano Ronaldo and Paul Gascoigne.
In attendance on the day were businesses from across the Tees Valley including Novus Wealth Management, Cornerstone Business Solutions, Developments by Joseph Homes and JDM Earth.
Greg Hildreth, Communications Officer at Alice House Hospice, said: “It was a brilliant two days and wonderful to receive such warmth and ongoing support from Chris Musgrave and family as well as all at Wynyard Park and their guests.
“The events were a fitting tribute to Joe Musgrave and I’m sure he was in many people’s thoughts on the day.
“I would like to express our gratitude to all concerned for their remarkable generosity as well as sending personal congratulations to Chris for his OBE, a very well-deserved accolade.
“Everything raised will be used to provide care and support for local patients and families who are affected by incurable illnesses.”
Anne-Marie Anderson, Business Development Manager at MFC Foundation, said: “Our guests all had a wonderful time due to the fantastic atmosphere and excellent hosts. Well done to all of the team that worked on the event for such a wonderful two days!
“MFC Foundation are incredible grateful for the support of Wynyard Park. The funds raised ensure that we can continue supporting over 35,000 people across Teesside every year in order to inspire confidence and hope amongst those that need it most.
“The money raised will ensure that MFC Foundation can provide inspiring grassroots projects in some of the most deprived communities nationally – inspiring confidence and hope through sport, health, education and inclusion programmes.
“We are overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of the Musgrave family and all of the individuals that attended the events.”
