Funeral home colleagues celebrate Colchester Pride in style

Colleagues from a local funeral home joined in the Colchester Pride celebrations in style this weekend with a special balloon-filled hearse.

Stephanie Johnson-Mills, Annie Wheybrow and Mark Hill from Co-op Funeralcare homes in Great Tey and Colchester invited visitors to guess the number of balloons in the hearse to be in with a chance to win a luxury food hamper.

Stephanie said: “It was our first time at Pride and we absolutely loved it.
“We wanted to do something a bit different and show our support for the LGBTQ+ community.”

In 2017, the Co-op unveiled its rainbow-coloured hearse at Brighton Pride for the first time. The hearse has since been requested on average twice a month by families across the UK to personalise the funeral of their loved one.

Stephanie added: “We’ve seen an increase in families choosing to express their loved one’s individual personality and interests.”

With over 1,000 funeral homes across the UK, the Co-op Funeralcare teams are respected members of their local communities. They are trusted in what they do and families in their care are treated with the utmost dignity and respect.
