Develop Training appoints L&D specialist, John Kerr, as Managing Director

Develop Training Ltd (DTL) has appointed John Kerr as Managing Director as part of a re-organisation of its senior management team.

Since joining the business in 2006 John has held various senior roles including Business Director, Head of Operations, Operations Director, and most recently Director of Education & Training. His new role as Managing Director will see him take responsibility for the strategic direction of an organisation he knows intimately.

John has always been closely involved in the day to day operational management of DTL and is now looking forward to the challenge of continuing to grow the UK’s leading provider of health & safety and compliance training. Prior to joining the business, John spent almost 25 years working in the gas industry after beginning his career as an apprentice Distribution Craftsman for Scottish Gas. During that time he gained extensive hands-on industry experience in both gas and mechanical engineering. This, coupled with 20 years of working in the education and training industry, stands him in good stead for his new leadership role.

John Kerr said, “DTL is entering into a new phase and I will be at the forefront of driving the business towards its vision. Our customers are our number one priority and I intend to put them at the heart of everything we do. I believe that my extensive experience within the training industry, specifically apprenticeships and learning & development, will help me to lead the business into the future and bring a fresh perspective to the training programmes we deliver.”

Non-Executive Chairman, Tony King, said “John represents the next phase of leadership for DTL and DTL’s Board of Director’s look forward to working with him closely in the coming years. Our aim is to continue growing the business, and John’s appointment is part of our strategy for bolstering our leadership capabilities as we increase in scale.”
