Pattonair supports Chesterfield Borough Council in welcoming hundreds of school children to Chesterfield Festival of Cricket
Following the drama of England’s Cricket World Cup victory on Sunday (July 14), Pattonair is continuing its efforts to engage young people in cricket by inviting more than 300 school children to enjoy the sport this week.
The business - the leading global supply chain service provider to the aerospace and defence industry - has, in partnership with Chesterfield Borough Council and the Derbyshire Cricket Board, selected six schools from across the region to attend the BRM Solicitors Chesterfield Festival of Cricket.
Pattonair is a match sponsor of the Specsavers County Championship game between Derbyshire County Cricket Club and Northamptonshire at the festival, which returned to Queen’s Park on Sunday (July 14).
Today it is the turn of 115 school children from Walton Holymoorside Primary School, Spire Junior School and St Mary’s Primary School to enjoy the third day of the festival, courtesy of Pattonair.
A further 190 school children from Brockwell Junior School, Hasland Junior School and Inkersall Primary Academy enjoyed the second day of the festival yesterday. (July 15)
Pattonair is Derbyshire’s principal partner and is supporting the club in a number of initiatives to get youngsters involved in sport.
Chief Executive Wayne Hollinshead said: “I think it is safe to say that the spirit of cricket is well and truly alive in the country at the moment.
“England’s dramatic win against New Zealand in the Cricket World Cup final demonstrated how true grit and determination can lead to success - something we want young people to aspire to through community-led initiatives such as this.
“This event is clearly a highlight on Chesterfield’s sporting calendar and is an opportunity for these children to experience the atmosphere of a cricket match and hopefully feel inspired by the action,” added Mr Hollinshead.
“We are always looking for ways to encourage sport in this way and hope that this is just the start of these children’s enjoyment of the game.”
Pattonair has more than 2,000 customers worldwide and has operations in the UK, Singapore, China, Poland, Brazil, France, Italy, Canada and the US. It employs 600 staff in Derby and a further 500 at its other sites. It has an ambitious programme for growth and has recently announced a new global HQ and state-of-the-art warehouse to be built at Derby’s Infinity Park.
