New apartments revealed for York's city centre at Old Fire Station site

Helmsley Group has revealed seven new apartments at a development set at the site of The Old Fire Station in York.

The scheme aims to ‘raise the bar’ for residential standards in central York and offers buyers views of famous York landmarks including Clifford’s Tower to the north, and the River Ouse.

Work on the £15m development, which began in 2017, has seen Helmsley Group spend two years developing the site, in conjunction with London Ebor Developments and contractors Caddick Construction.

Max Reeves, director at Helmsley Group, said: “We are a proud York business, so it is fantastic to have the opportunity to be involved in developing such an iconic and much-loved building in the historic heart of the city.”

He added: “This is an exciting development in a prime, sought-after location, within easy walking distance of York’s shops and attractions.

“We wanted to retain the spirit of the building’s unique historical character, while also providing stunning homes which are suited to modern living. We’re really proud of what we have achieved.”

Each of the apartments will feature kitchens by House of Harrogate and bathrooms from Swiss designers Laufen.

Louise Hirst, partner at the York office of Carter Jonas, which is marketing the properties on behalf of Helmsley Group, added: “York was recently voted the best place to live in the UK, and Helmsley Group’s latest development can only add to its status.”

The development, which will also deliver seven town houses and a commercial space, is the latest addition to Helmsley Group’s growing residential portfolio in the city.
