Barratt Homes Community Fund donation gives 1st Llantwit Major Scouts a £1,000 bonus
The 1st Llantwit Major Scouts has been given a £1,000 donation from the Barratt and David Wilson Homes Community Fund.
The donation will be used by the group as part of its plans to develop its current facilities and meet demand from youngsters keen to join.
The Barratt and David Wilson Homes Community Fund donates £1,000 each month to a charity or organisation which improves the quality of life for those living in the region and managing director Steve Williams said the scout group was a worthy recipient of the funds.
“Being able to support organisations like this is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. As the country’s largest housebuilder we are committed to creating a positive legacy and work closely with local communities.”
Group Scout leader Ian Jones said the group is a mixed sex Scout Group catering for children from six to 14 years old. Around 30 per cent of the members are female.
He said the group is looking to develop its current hall and facilities to meet demand, it currently has around 70 children on the waiting list.
“This donation will enable us to put on activities for people with mobility issues and for them to gain easier access to the hall. We will also be installing a fence which will make the area safer for the children.”
In South Wales Barratt also supports Welsh children’s cancer charity LATCH and events such as the Monmouth Raft Race. Last year the company also supported grass roots cycling in South Wales and the Kids Out charity and it has recently completed the creation of a brand new sensory garden at Ysgol y Deri in Penarth.
