TyneMet College kicks off a fresh era in sporting study
TyneMet College is kicking off a fresh era in sporting study after forging a new partnership with Newcastle University.
The college’s Football Excellence Education Programme will now be delivered at the recently redeveloped Cochrane Park, Newcastle University.
Cochrane Park has been subject to considerable updates and now has three full size artificial football pitches, two classrooms, a sports therapy room, strength and conditioning room and an ergo room for specialist rowing training.
Chris Wall, Deputy Head of TyneMet’s North East Sport Academy (NESA) believes the partnership will enhance the student offer; “the state of the art facilities at Cochrane Park will add further value to the excellent football and education experience we offer our students.
We are also delighted to be working closer with Newcastle University.“
The two-year football excellence programme allows students to complete a Level 3 Diploma in Sport (Performance and Excellence), train and learn in a professional football environment and advance as a player whilst developing industry specific skills and gaining access to part-time employment opportunities.
Nick Beale, Facilities Service Manager at Newcastle University “It’s fantastic that we have been able to agree a partnership with TyneMet College for them to use our superb new facilities at Cochrane Park Sports Ground. This really strengthens and enhances the link between Further Education and Higher Education in our local area.”
TyneMet College is hosting a range of pre-season games at Cochrane Park, Etherstone Avenue, Newcastle NE7 7JX throughout August for anyone interested in studying the Football Excellence Programme.
