Armsons teams up with Repton School for new sports facilities

Derby-based project managers, cost consultants and building surveyors Armsons are providing quantity surveying services for the redevelopment of Repton School’s sports facilities.

Armsons has a long-standing partnership with Repton School and has worked with them on various projects over the past 15 years, including the award-winning conversion of the 400 Hall into a state-of-the-art theatre.

Now the firm is working with the school on the £6m project to improve the school’s sports facilities.

Phase one created a new 13,535 ft2 multi-purpose sports hall, with two squash courts and strength and conditioning suite.

The flexible space houses a show court for netball and is a competition venue for indoor hockey, along with basketball, 5-a-side football, futsal and indoor cricket.

The new facility is a first-class training venue and will also provide a venue to host national indoor competitions.

Phase two, which is due to be completed in August 2019, is now underway and will see the refurbishment and extension of the existing Pavilion changing and hospitality facilities.

This will include the creation of a new entrance and changing rooms with recovery and physiotherapy facilities, a video analysis and team meeting room, an external viewing platform and a ground floor reception area complete with a café. There will also be an extension to the car park.

Commenting on the project, Sally Walters, director at Armsons said:

“We are delighted to continue working with Repton School as part of the multi-disciplinary design team. We will be providing the quantity surveying on this project as we have done for a number of regeneration projects within the school grounds over the years.

“Armsons provides innovative, professional construction consultancy services for our clients and their projects. We look forward to seeing the completion of this project and working with Repton school for many years to come.”

Commenting on the creation of the new state-of-the-art sporting facilities, Ian Pollock, director of sport at the school said:

“This much anticipated development will have a considerable impact on the sporting experience of every pupil here at Repton. As well as providing significant support for pupils who compete at performance level, it will allow every pupil to experience sport at an enhanced level, which is part of the school’s holistic educational aims. It will also allow Repton to further enhance our reputation as a centre of sporting excellence within the region.

“Sport at Repton is an integral part of school life so it is fantastic to have invested in these new and improved facilities. The redevelopment of the sports centre will encourage more children to enjoy and engage with sport and activity both within the school and the wider community.”
