New duck house makes a splash at Mill Brook

School pupils from Bratton Primary School gathered at David Wilson Homes’ Mill Brook development in Westbury this week, for the launch of a very special new house.

The five star housebuilder is known for the quality of homes its design team creates for humans - but bosses called in youngsters from Bratton Primary School for extra inspiration on a new on-site duck house.

“We are very much committed to making sure those living in our local neighbourhoods where we are creating new homes have wonderful surroundings - and that includes the wildlife as well as humans,” said sales director, Louise Ware.

“We’re delighted to have launched a new duck house for this impressive new development of three and four-bedroom homes - and it’s wonderful that local schoolchildren have helped us to unveil it.”

David Wilson Homes invited the pupils along to launch the duck house after running a colouring competition with the school. Youngsters were tasked with colouring their best duck themed image and it was Erin in Year 1 who won with her duck safari image. She will have her name on the duck house as a special honour.

Louise said: “Pupils came up with an array of excellent pictures and there could be some budding artists among them. As a special thank you and to help them develop those skills we’ve provided goodie bags to the children who visited, containing colouring books and other artistic supplies.”

Bratton Primary School headteacher, Ian Bolton, added: “This was a great opportunity for our pupils to learn about ducks and the way they live. It was also a chance for them to develop their art skills. We are all proud of those who took part and are all thrilled for Erin. The new duck house will provide a fantastic new home for these gentle creatures. We all hope they enjoy living in Westbury as much as their neighbours do.”
