Shades of grey a continued succession in North East

The Stockton showroom of a national carpet and bed retailer has seen a rise in sales thanks to the continued popularity of grey interiors.

United Carpets and Beds, the UK’s largest franchised carpet and bed retailer, opened its first store in the North East six months ago. Based on Portrack Lane, the 12,000 sq ft store showcases the latest flooring, bed and mattress ranges and offers a training facility for the firm’s 250+ staff.

Since opening, the 10-strong team is celebrating a successful first quarter due to the ongoing demand of grey carpets. With more than 116k photos on Instagram using the hashtag #greyinterior , sales are expected to continue at a high pace over the coming months.

Andy Grant, Stockton store manager, said: “It’s fantastic to see how popular the store has become since opening – we’ve had customers visit from across the North East, including Newcastle and Thirsk. We’ve seen a real flurry in customers wanting grey flooring, as it creates a stylish and contemporary look and has become the new neutral with interior designers and home owners alike.

“We’re already seeing customers booking to have their flooring fitted before Christmas and some of our new grey ranges including Balterio New Traditions Laminate with excellent resilience and the 100% bleach cleanable Murcia Twist Pile Carpet are proving especially popular.”
