CODA Architecture celebrates two years of growth in Manchester

AWARD winning CODA Architecture is celebrating its second successful year in Manchester.

CODA Architecture is the architectural division of CODA Studios, the acclaimed Sheffield based multi-disciplinary design practice.

CODA Architecture opened its Manchester office in 2017 as it built on an existing and expanding client base both in the north west and nationally.

Now the Manchester operation has a team of four, headed by CODA Associate Director and architect Jamie Hanson, who has more than 15 years experience in the industry, having led on the delivery of many residential and commercial schemes for CODA’s largest clients.

His experience ranges from student residential developments to office to residential change of use, PRS and bespoke housing.

He is joined in Manchester by Catalina Ionita, a Part 3 architectural assistant and PHD student at Sheffield Hallam University who originally worked in CODA’s Sheffield HQ and has five years experience in both commercial and residential developments.   Christian Gonzalez is a RIBA and ARB architect who moved from Sheppard Robson to lead on CODA’s High Wycombe residential project.

Christian will provide additional support on the delivery of projects from Stage 4 onwards and brings with him a huge amount of BIM and technical experience.   Liam Charnock is a graduate architectural technologist and has been appointed to support the delivery team in Manchester.

He was nominated for the student award for excellence in Architectural Technology earlier this year.

CODA Architecture’s wide range of experience across different sectors, contract types and clients has equipped the team to bring a fresh perspective and flexible, pro-active approach to any project, no matter what its procurement and organisational structure.

Recent key projects the CODA Manchester team have been working on include Langworthy Road, a residential project of 44 apartments in Salford for client Qualis Developments Ltd. This project is currently on site.   Leigh Street in High Wycombe is a part conversion and extension of an existing Victorian warehouse and three new build blocks to provide 228 apartments for Manchester based client Regency Residential.

CODA has been appointed to deliver the implementation information and the project on site.   Cheetwood House is a Newton Street office refurbishment in Manchester’s Northern Quarter for Kamani Property Group, giving the grade II listed building a fresh new look while maintaining the building’s historic character.

“We are delighted at the way in which we have become so firmly established in Manchester,” said Jamie.

“It always made perfect sense to bring our services directly to Manchester as CODA has a long established relationship with the north west and the past two years have demonstrated very clearly that we made the correct decision.

“What may have started out as a satellite is now very much a firm presence in this important area for growth and we look forward to expanding our team even further in the months ahead.”
