Back of the net! Caedmon Homes sponsor Boroughbridge AFC

Caedmon Homes, the leading North Yorkshire residential property developer, is to sponsor both the Boroughbridge senior and youth football teams for the next two seasons.

Paul Brown, director of Easingwold-based Caedmon, explained: “We are very keen to become part of the local Boroughbridge community and an excellent way in which to do this is to sponsor the town’s very successful football teams.”

Caedmon is currently on site with its prestigious Priory Meadows development at Kirby Hill, near Boroughbridge. The development, which was launched in March, is due for completion by the end of the year.

“We are very proud of our scheme, which offers a variety of 34 new homes in this popular North Yorkshire village. We believe the attention to detail, including design and specification, really sets Priory Meadows apart from the competition”.

“We are particularly pleased to have contributed to the provision of affordable housing in the Boroughbridge area, which is relatively affluent and where house prices can be out of the reach of those of low incomes.

“But we don’t want to be that developer who doesn’t engage with the community. We are hoping that many of our homes will be bought by local people, including some who might want to represent Boroughbridge at football.

“We are especially keen to encourage the junior footballers at Boroughbridge, knowing the pleasure that the game inspires at a young age and the health and fitness it generates. Football also creates a team-bonding mentality, which comes in very useful in later life.”

Daz Ekin of Boroughbridge AFC commented: “We are tremendously appreciative of Caedmon’s generosity. It is always a struggle to make financial ends meet at this level of football, so we are dependent on the kindness and support of community-minded local companies like Caedmon.

“The senior team had an incredibly successful season last year, punching well above our weight in winning West Yorkshire League Division One, whilst the juniors have bags of potential. We’ve got a very exciting season ahead at both levels and we are delighted to have Caedmon on board for this journey.”

Altogether Caedmon Homes are building 34 houses at Priory Meadows in Kirby Hill in the heart of the village, 14 of which have already been sold to Wakefield District Housing (WDH). The development comprises two-bed bungalows to five-bed houses, priced between £265,000 and £605,000. It is scheduled to be finished by the end of the year, but viewings, via Ripon agents Linley and Simpson, are available now.

Paul Brown explained: “We have chosen the location of this development extremely carefully. Kirby Hill is a pretty rural village near the flourishing market town of Boroughbridge and within minutes of the A1 motorway, providing easy commuting access to York, Harrogate, Leeds and Newcastle.

“The range of houses on offer means we are looking for potential occupiers who are looking to both upsize and downsize. We believe the modern bungalows will prove extremely popular with more elderly couples wanting to downsize, whilst the elegant five-bed houses are perfect for a growing family wanting to move into a larger home.”

Caedmon Homes are also masterminding new state-of-the-art developments in the Groves area of York and at Whitby, close to the centre of the historic town.
