UKFast in Top Three Tech Workplaces
Pets by desks, an office gym with steam room and an on-site training centre are what it takes to become one of the UK’s top three tech workplaces, highlighted by UKFast’s ranking in this year’s Tech Great Place to Work list announced today.
The Manchester-based cloud hosting firm is well known for its unique office space, fun perks and commitment to training, UKFast is a regular feature of the Best Workplaces list. UKFast placed third in the ‘large’ category, which also includes firms like Adobe, Red Hat, SAS and Version 1.
Compiled using an anonymous employee questionnaire, Great Place to Work recognises organisations based on team feedback and a comprehensive culture audit.
UKFast’s office perks include sleeping pods, an on-site gym and a crèche, as well as private movie premiere screenings and a full-scale beach on the car park during the summer months. The firm’s bring your dog to work policy sees canine colleagues accompanying the UKFast team to work every day.
But UKFast’s commitment to cutting-edge digital training and education, both within the business and in the wider community, is the real key to the company’s success as a tech workplace, according to CEO Lawrence Jones MBE.
He said: “Perks and days out are nice to have, but we learned some time ago that to make UKFast a truly great place to work we have to focus on giving people the opportunity to learn and develop. The results of this are clear to see – an engaged and constantly developing team is a happy team.
“We’ve taken on a team of full-time teachers with the view that, in the long-term, people are more satisfied and more motivated by developing and learning than by financial gain. It has altered the way we approach everything we do.”
Employing more than 350 people, UKFast provides cloud and dedicated server solutions to 5,000 UK organisations.
