Strong Insurance Focus Transports Leeds Broker to National Finals

Leeds-based McCarron Coates’ belief in the excellence of its service delivery has been vindicated at the highest level, with the commercial insurance broker achieving two shortlistings in the prestigious Insurance Times Awards 2019 – the ones everyone in insurance wants to win.

The brokerage, which has a particular specialisation in insurance for passenger and commercial transport operators, as well as a range of other commercial insurances, is shortlisted in the Commercial Lines Broker of the Year and Claims Broker of the Year categories.

The shortlistings recognise McCarron Coates’ spirit of innovation and can-do approach to insurance broking, which has seen it develop a unique insurance policy for van drivers wishing to improve their risk through the Freight Transport Association (FTA) scheme – Van Excellence.

Focusing on claims and how to help clients reduce their exposure to risk is part of in-depth, strategic approaches employed by Ian McCarron and Paul Coates, who had a clear vision for the type of client they wished to work with when setting up McCarron Coates.

They also show an appreciation of McCarron Coates’ commitment to excellence and working with the right clients, rather than simply seeking to dramatically grow a business that has no real focus.

Ian McCarron says: “We have stood by our principles of focus and niche market penetration, having strict selection criteria when it comes to the type of client we wish to attract, on-board and retain. We draw upon many years of experience in our sector and direct our expertise into a solutions-driven approach to client servicing. If a suitable policy does not exist for a particular client, we will go out of our way to try to create it, working with insurers with whom we have earned trust and enjoyed long-standing relationships.”

Paul Coates adds: “These shortlistings are a reward for our entire team and their commitment to what we stand for. They have also been achieved, in part, on the basis of the testimonials provided by our clients, who have fully appreciated our down-to-earth approach, honesty, willingness to engage and get to understand their businesses inside-out, and tenacity in finding the right insurer and insurance solution for their individual operation. We cannot thank these insurers and clients enough, for the belief they have shown in us.”

McCarron Coates will now face panel interviews with judges in London, before heading to one of the glitziest awards events in any sector, to be held at Grosvenor House, London on November 22.
