Merger enables flooring company to target further growth
A rapidly expanding flooring wholesale company is targeting further growth following a merger with a family-run business operating in the North East and North West of England.
The merger is resulting in MCA Floorwise and Floorwise (North East) becoming part of the Kellars group.
It forms part of Kellars’ rapid growth strategy which has seen it supplying flooring to just a handful of customers in the Greater Manchester area only 12 months ago, to now being one of the largest independent wholesalers in the UK.
MCA Floorwise, based in Morecambe, and Floorwise (North East), based in Chester-le-Street, are owned by Andy Duce, who has now become a Director of Kellars.
Andy says: “MCA Floorwise was set up by my father in 1977 and we bought Floorwise (North East) in 1998, with both companies providing a flooring wholesale service to trade and retail customers.
“We have achieved lots of success and have built up a customer base of over 500 but the time is right to merge the two businesses to achieve further success. We aim to provide customers with even greater value for money with a huge product portfolio.”
“There’s great synergy between the companies. We aim to introduce flooring accessories to Kellars and they will further support our sales of floorcoverings. This again will give all our customers a ‘one stop shop’ for all their flooring needs.”
In 2018, Kellars, which has its head office in Stockport, was supplying flooring to just a handful of customers in the Greater Manchester area. But a private investment enabled the company to expand rapidly and it is now distributing flooring across the north, including Scotland, and as far down as the Midlands, with further growth planned.
Andy added: “Kellars is undergoing an exciting period of growth and it’s great to be part of a group which is already now one of the largest independent flooring wholesalers in the UK.
“We’re looking forward to playing our part in its continued success.”
