Telecoms provider to launch first mobile phone in North East sees £1.2m increase in turnover

The company which introduced mobile phones to the region in the 1980s has realised new opportunities following its best year to date.

Sunderland-based Nice Network, which rebranded from CCS just over 12 months ago, saw an additional £1.2m added to last years turnover after welcoming on board a host of new clients.

Founded in 1986 by managing director Chris Lee, Nice Network is a family-run business known for selling the first ever mobile phone in the North East.

The company now manages telecommunications and IT services for global blue-chip organisations ranging from Nike to Husqvarna, Draeger, Puma and Russell Hobbs, to name just a few.

Speaking about the company’s success, founder and managing director Chris Lee, said: “Nice Network continued to go from strength-to-strength last year, reporting record results and securing a number of new clients in the process.

“To have achieved this, in a year when we underwent a complete brand overhaul, is absolutely fantastic and I’ve got to give credit where credit is due to all of the team who have worked tirelessly to make this happen.

“As a company, we have always placed a huge emphasis on looking after our staff in the faith that, if we look after them, they’ll look after us, and this is a commitment which we feel has been pivotal in helping us grow as a company.”

Nice Network’s investment in its staff has meant its team of 24 have worked at the company for a combined total of over 250 years - an average of 10.4 years per person - a feat almost unheard of within the telecoms industry.

Lee added: “The fact that we have managed to accumulate such a high staff retention rate is testament to the culture we’ve instilled here at Nice Network and it’s refreshing to know that our staff appreciate the work we’ve put in to ensure we have such a strong company culture.

“We also have one of the industry’s best client retention rates, with an average client tenure of over 13 years, and this would never have been possible without the right staff in place. Our people are the heartbeat of the company and are the linchpin of the strong networks we’ve accumulated over the last 33 years.”

Building on its legacy of being an industry pioneer, the company has also teamed up with partners such as Vodafone, SOTI and Cisco to bring a suit of new products and services to market over the past 12 months including Internet of Things (IoT) services, new cyber security solutions and IT services.

This has not only helped secure new clients for the company but has also helped extend its work with its existing portfolio of customers and Lee is confident that, looking to the future, this will help the company continue on its upward trajectory.

Lee added: “From forming the quality technical compliance of vehicle security systems to market to selling the first mobile phone in the North East, we’ve always been committed to providing our customers with the newest, most reliable technology and we don’t see that coming to an end any time soon.

“Over the next 12 months, we’ll continue to look out for new products and services that we can introduce into our offering and, as we continue to invest in increasing our headcount, we’re confident that the new brand will continue to go from strength-to-strength.

“It’s an exciting time for everyone involved with the company and we can’t wait to see what the future has in store.”
