Birmingham building services supplier secures £2m contract for London housing scheme
Building services provider J S Wright has secured a contract worth over £2m for a major new housing scheme in north London.
The mechanical and electrical services specialist, which has its headquarters in Birmingham and an office in central London, will fit out Seasprite Close in Northolt with heating, hot and cold water, gas, drainage and ventilation services.
The commission from housebuilder Hill, in partnership with Ealing Council, involves equipping all 84 apartments in three blocks of four to eight storeys including communal areas, along with eight houses.
J S Wright will install an energy efficient heat network to deliver heat from a central plantroom to each of the apartments in one of the blocks, and combination boilers in the remaining blocks and houses.
The company will install a cold-water booster set and tank room with piping to deliver cold water to all floors, as well as internal and external rainwater systems, dry risers and domestic sprinklers.
In addition, J S Wright will deliver a mechanical ventilation heat recovery system (MVHR), above ground drainage, sanitary ware and building management controls including a pre-payment billing system.
Work on site is scheduled to begin this month with completion due in autumn 2021.
Phil Leech, J S Wright’s managing director, said: “We are delighted to be able to build on our longstanding relationship with such a major housebuilder through our design and build expertise in a wide range of residential projects.”
J S Wright has also been awarded a £600k commission by Hill to design and build the mechanical services for a new Approved Premises Facility (APF) in south east London.
The contract for the Aylesbury Estate in Southwark will cover 36 secure studio-bedroom apartments, along with staff and communal support facilities.
The modern purpose-built APF has been designed to improve the opportunities for its occupants in later life as part of an ongoing regeneration programme for the estate.
The contract is scheduled for completion in December 2019.
