Local electrical wholesaler signals £30m turnover boost with Cramlington branch opening
Independent electrical wholesaler Park Electrical Distributors has signalled its intention for further growth with the opening of a Cramlington branch.
Located on Nelson Park West with a turnover of £30m, it is the sixth branch in the region alongside Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham, Gateshead and Middlesbrough. The company employs 85 people across the North East.
Cramlington branch manager, Graham McMullen, said: “I have been at Park Electrical Distributors for 11 years, joining as an accounts manager at the Gateshead branch, before progressing to a business development manager and my previous position was national sales manager.
“This is an exciting development for the company and myself and is an example of how, with hard work and commitment, Park offers excellent career paths.”
He added: “Commercial director, Ian Aitchison and myself, decided Cramlington was the best location to open a new branch.
“Located just off the A1, it is very easy to access and places us in the north of the region so, for the first time, we can really target Northumberland and the borders. The focus for the branch is very much on smaller businesses and local contractors with a view to developing trade counter customers.”
In addition to its role as a wholesaler, Park, which was established in 1990, has specialist divisions - lighting design, energy solutions, building technologies and industrial services - that deliver solutions to generate long-term savings for end-user companies.
Managing director, Barry Wilkinson, concluded: “We wanted to open a sixth branch for a long time but finding the right location was crucial.
“Graham has the experience and knowledge to lead his team whilst also reaching a new target audience, smaller businesses and trade counter customers, where we believe there is a gap in the market that we can fill.
“In addition to our offering as an electrical wholesaler, we operate across a number of specialist divisions, providing our customers an integrated solution.”
