Funding award helps provide support to young people across North Lincolnshire

Independent Support Professional uses UKSE funding to help those in need

A support specialist who works with young people with social, emotional and mental health needs has launched a bespoke and specialised support packages to support people across North Lincolnshire after receiving Kickstart funding from UK Steel Enterprise (UKSE).

Based in Scunthorpe, Tiffany Goffe launched the business in July 2019 with the aim of ‘supporting young people to be the best they can’ – bringing with her over 16 years’ experience of working in similar roles in the community and for North Lincolnshire Council.

The launch comes thanks to a £500 grant from UKSE – an organisation tasked with helping the economic regeneration of communities affected by changes in the steel industry – which she used to launch her website and produce brochures and banners which help raise awareness of her services.

Currently working with children between the ages of 10-21, Tiffany delivers her services in a number of local schools, as well as privately in the North Lincolnshire area; and as the business grows, she hopes to serve a larger community in the future with the assistance of other support workers.

Tiffany commented: “I truly feel there is nothing more worthwhile then helping a young person reach their full potential, and so I am grateful to have had support from UKSE in establishing myself as an Independent Support Professional.

“Having the opportunity to set up my own business has been an ambition of mine for some time now, as it means I can work with a number of young people and their families within the local area who perhaps would not have got the help they needed otherwise.”

As part of her work, Tiffany focuses on raising children’s aspirations, engaging them in school, improving their communication skills, improving their social and emotional well-being, promoting positivity, building upon their confidence and supporting their transition into adulthood.

Alongside her services to youngsters, she also runs sessions targeted at parents or guardians who may be struggling to mend strained relationships they have with the child in their care; working out how best to move beyond current difficulties.

Keith Williams, Regional Manager of UKSE added: “Tiffany’s business is providing excellent support to young people when they need it most and it’s great that we can support her.

“The relationships that she has developed with a number of schools in the local area means that the services she offers will be widely available and I’m delighted that we have been able to help her get established.”

UKSE also provides loan and equity finance of up to £1m to existing companies which are growing, particularly those creating jobs.
