Barratt Developments North East celebrates two wins at the 2019 Regional Pride in the Job Awards

A project manager at Barratt Developments North East, which includes the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, has won not one but two awards at this year’s regional NHBC Pride in the Job Awards. The NHBC Pride in the Job Awards are amongst one of the highest accolades a project manager or site manager can receive.

Mark Summersgill, Project Manager based at David Wilson Homes’ Grey Towers Village development in Nunthorpe, gained official recognition for the excellence with which he runs the development, receiving a Pride in the Job Seal of Excellence award for the seventh time, as well as a Regional Award for the fourth time at this year’s ceremony.

Known as the “Oscars of the housebuilding industry”, the Pride in the Job Quality Awards are the most coveted in the housebuilding industry and have been instrumental in driving up standards for over 35 years. They are awarded after the NHBC, the industry’s construction standard setting body, carries out a series of spot check site inspections to select the most organised and best quality housing developments across the country. More than 250 judges across the UK apply a meticulous judging process to around 16,000 sites, where site and project managers are reviewed on every aspect of their job, including technical skill, quality workmanship, customer service and site safety.

The Pride in the Job Awards mark a winning streak for the housebuilder, with the Grey Towers Village development also receiving recognition for its market leading design at the annual Great Places Design Awards, winning the National Award for Best in Category. All submissions of newly completed sites or phases to the Great Places Design Awards are assessed by a panel of internal design professionals, who examine the character of place and quality of design. This year’s awards ceremony saw a record-breaking entry of 85 schemes across the two categories, covering the whole spectrum of residential developments built by Barratt Developments. Design Manager, Kevin Ross attended the ceremony to collect the award on behalf of the North East division.

Carl Sobolewski, Managing Director at Barratt Developments North East, commented: “These awards recognise only the very best project managers, site managers and teams who demonstrate excellence in both the construction and running of new-build developments. To win more of these awards than any other housebuilder for 15 years in a row is a real point of difference and shows how committed we are to building the highest quality homes for our customers. I would like to thank all the development teams involved for their hard work and dedication in helping make these achievements possible.”

This achievement follows the housebuilder’s success in June of this year, where Mark and four Barratt Developments Site Managers based in the North East, including Darren Watt, Lee Howard, David Leightley and Lloyd Parkison, received prestigious Pride in the Job Quality awards for their commitment to producing homes of outstanding quality. Mark will be attending the National NHBC Pride in the Job Awards ceremony early next year.

This year also marks the 10th consecutive year that Barratt Developments has been awarded 5 stars by the Home Builders Federation (HBF) for customer satisfaction, meaning that 90% of its customers would be happy to recommend their home to a friend.
