I.C. Electrical sparks utilities success with new projects

Midlands electrical contracting and engineering business, I.C. Electrical, is eyeing further growth in the utilities market after securing four new projects, which have a combined multi-million-pound value.

The new work follows a successful project for Anglian Water @One Alliance at Heigham, near Norwich, for which water treatment company Suez Water Technologies was the technology provider and I.C. Electrical provided electrical installation services to Suez.

Continuing the contractor’s strong track record in the energy-from-waste sector, I.C. Electrical is supporting Suez by completing electrical installations across its two new anaerobic digestion plants in Shropshire and East Yorkshire. Requiring the business to work to tight timescales, other key areas of the project have been the designing, manufacturing and installing of motor control cabinets (MCCs) and remote IO (RIO) cabinets at key areas across the sites. The panels have been designed and built in the company’s new manufacturing facility in Burton upon Trent, “Tehdas”.

The electrical business has also won two projects with East of England water company, Anglian Water @One Alliance, to deliver all areas of electrical design and installation for its two new water treatment plants in Cambridgeshire and Essex.

The successful delivery of both projects supports I.C. Electrical’s aim of becoming a framework supplier for the utilities industry during 2020.

I.C. Electrical, part of international Finnish company, VEO Group, provides complete engineering solutions including the designing and building of control panels, high- and low-voltage electrical systems, as well as communication and automation systems.

Tim McNeilly, managing director at I.C. Electrical, commented: “Our recent work for Suez Water Technologies and Anglian Water @One Alliance underpins our ambition to increase our growth in both the energy-from-waste and the competitive utilities market, on our journey to becoming an approved framework supplier. It’s been a privilege to be a part of such innovative projects and we’re looking forward to expanding our footprint in the industry over the coming months.”

John Hoyles, integrated project leader at Anglian Water @One Alliance, said: “ICE have recently completed the electrical installation of a multi-million-pound membrane plant at Heigham WTW in Norwich. The quality of the installation and professionalism of the team on site was exceptional. The level of collaboration and behaviours displayed are key attributes which are key to the success of our delivery. As a result, we have continued our journey working with I.C. Electrical on further schemes.”

Jon Watters, integrated solutions project manager at Suez Water Technologies said: “It was an easy decision for Suez to invite I.C. Electrical to support our two new ADT projects, both due for completion before the end of 2019. The business supported us during the tender process and was selected under a competitive bid solution. They presented a technically and commercially attractive offer, which along with their recent history of high-quality installations, meant that they were successful with their offer to supply control panels and site electrical installations. We are currently in discussion with I.C. Electrical about continuing our partnership for future projects across the UK and possibly Europe.”
